Guåfi by Corey Santos
Battled the current for almost a kilometer and this was the closest I could get to the ocean’s monsters. As I shared in the intensity of the moment with my friend, John Barber, I was grateful to have been in the right position to capture this wave as it arrived at the end of a journey thousands of miles long. The water’s surface, rippling and glowing as it mirrored the liquid gold dripping from the setting sun. Above me, the sky. A canvas of clouds painted in shades orange and vermillion. The crack of a shotgun and the roar of a freight train as our coral reef absorbed another blow.
